Personnel Policy Committee Charge

Purpose: The personnel committee is charged with the responsibility for overseeing the development and maintenance for personnel policies and practices of the Oregon Chapter of NASW

Authorization and accountability: The personnel committee is a committee of the Oregon NASW Board. The chairperson of the committee is the 1st vice president of Oregon NASW who is elected by the members of the NASW Oregon Chapter.

Members: The first vice president is chairperson of the personnel committee. The committee shall consist of at least two other members of the Oregon Chapter of NASW. At least one of these members, should have been a past member of the board or a current member of the board. The chairperson of the personnel committee makes recommendations to board regarding potential members of the committee. The board then approves or appoints committee members.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • This committee oversees the search for an executive director of NASW Oregon Chapter and with the board the hiring of the executive director. The search committee will be composed of the personnel committee, some board members and other NASW leaders.

  • The chairperson of this committee shall do a yearly evaluation of the Executive Director. This evaluation shall include input from the members of the executive committee and the board members.

  • The personnel committee shall make recommendation to the board on salary increases for the executive director and consult with the ED on salary increases for other staff members.

  • The committee shall review personnel policies and make recommendations of changes in policies to the board.

  • The chairperson shall be in contact with the state chapter’s liaison from the national NASW office around personnel issues as needed.
