NASW Oregon Ethics Blog
Moderated by members of the Chapter Ethics Committee, the NASW Oregon Ethics Blog is intended as an educational tool, to encourage discussion of questions and dilemmas in social work ethics and share information about ethics resources such as publications and workshops. The Ethics Committee's primary purpose is to support social workers' ethical decision making by guiding members in using the NASW Code of Ethics. While we expect the questions discussed in this forum to relate to readers’ social work practice, the intent is not to direct a course of action. Resolving ethical dilemmas calls for careful deliberation. Any actions considered must be evaluated thoughtfully for their risks and consequences. In some cases, other laws and regulations may also have a bearing. In view of the challenges and nuances presented by many ethical questions, the Ethics Committee may offer further guidance through confidential, individual consultation to NASW members. Members using this forum are reminded of the need to maintain strict confidentiality. The Ethics Committee will not share identifying information and may generalize information or alter particulars in order to protect confidentiality.
